The Darkening

The Darkening has begun. The cataclysmic solar storm is reducing the inner civilized planets to barren rocks. Refugees throughout the galaxy are fleeing to the relative safety of the uncharted worlds on the outer rim.
This is the period when a mysterious solar storm ravaged the inner worlds, stripping their atmospheres away. With little warning or means of evacuation, very few survived. Little (as of now) is known about the events preceding it or the facts as they stand now. It is known to be probably true that the terraformers shut off, though no one can explain how they did this simultaneously across hundreds of worlds. Others have begun to bring underlying involvement of The Lost Factions into the rumors.

The uncharted planets were the most protected from the immediate effects of the Darkening. But the destruction of factories, agricultural worlds, knowledge repositories, halls of justice, etc. will bring about its own flavor of ravaging effects.
The Lost Factions that have been driven from society lurk here as well. Rumors of hag covens have become less of a fable these days...
