Father of Serpents

Yig is the father of serpents and main deity worshipped by the Yuan - Ti and lizardfolk. Dedicated only to servitude, The Starving Serpent sought the collapse of all society that did not serve him and would devour his enemies in a hope to satisfy his never ending hunger. He also saw his reptilian children as the superior race and is also fiercely protective of his serpentine offspring and will punish anyone who dares harm them. Even though Yig is quick to anger he is also easy to please as long as no harm comes to his children, the snakes.

Divine Domains

Yig currently resides within the thick, hellish vegetation of Avernus' jungles of rotting trees and ashen landscape, occasionally swimming through the River Styx. He is able to speak through snakes in Winval and can see through their eyes.

"Serpents above all things are the true heirs to this land. The entirety of this world is merely a feasting platter for the great Father of Serpents. Every meal is to be shared with Yig as children and servants of the great one. Protection from the endless feast is earned only through service and dedication. Reptiles of the realm are to be treated with the utmost of respect and humbleness for they are the eyes of Yig and his presence in our realm until he may one day devour again."

Tenets of Faith

Servants of Yig perform live sacrifices and leave meat and other offerings for large snakes allowed to roam their temples so as to help feed their eternally hungry Demon Lord. His shaman were blessed with red mask like scale patterns around their now black eyes. If the shaman is not snake headed or lacks scales around their eyes they will only receive the black eyed biological change and are instructed to wear red war paint around their eyes. Their robes are green with black scaled patterns down the sides and the eye of Yig painted on the centre of their chest.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Yig is eternally hungry and as such is often regarded as the demon lord of greed. His desires are primal and monstrous, wishing to devour all those who do not serve him and have those who do serve him seek out enemies of Yig and all those who do not wish to serve so that he may devour them too to stave off his eternal hunger even momentarily. He is easily appeased by offerings of food and drink but is never truly satisfied and anyone who worships Yig will find snakes begin to surround them and invade their living space in search of further offerings to their great divine. Should any of these snakes be harmed that follower would meet a grizzly fate having been seen as neglecting his duty to protect the children of Yig.
