Captain Starling had always grown up on the seas. Her father, William Starling, was the captain of a trade ship owned by The Steward Alliance called The Raven's Triumph, and he had always brought her on his trips. When he left his ship to retire, he passed ownership of The Raven's Triumph onto her, making her captain instead of passing down the role to someone within the trade alliance as he was meant to. His decision, however, could not be opposed, leaving many members of both the crew and the Steward Alliance unhappy, believing that they should have the role of Captain.
After his death a few years later, many went after the captain role by force. There were several attempts to revoke her title or stir a mutiny, but the only near success was when her reputation was tarnished. How exactly no one knows. As a result She was stripped of rank and forced to leave the Alliance.
To spite the company, she stole her ship in the middle of the night with several crew members who felt her treatment was unjust.
Since then, they have lived the lives of pirates, going on adventures and stealing plenty of gold. The crew disbanded after five years on the seas, when the ship was destroyed on the coast in Winval each member leaving with a fair share of their earnings. Captain Starling has since been adventuring on her own, only taking on high paying jobs.
