"Realm Breaker" Kaenrae Obscuro (a.k.a. The Wings of Blight)

Much like Valdus, Kaenrae regrets and despises of his past, but pushes on to move forward, nonetheless. After being freed from being Cursed, Kaenrae decided to stick with Valdus and protect Eldoria. His personality is sporadic, and he's known for his stubbornness, short-temper and recklessness. He also calls himself out for being dense and/or oblivious, but despite all that, he cares about those close to him. Kaenrae tends to hide his softer side more so than Valdus, majority of the time. Kaenrae is often selfless, even willing to give up his own life to ensure the safety of others, but he's also known to become rather twisted, his broken personality at other times leading him to become aggressive and violent. He's Fate-Linked to Tenebrae, Multi-Linked to Valena through Valdus's Fate-Link with her, and Multi-Linked to Nex through Valdus's Blood-Link with her.

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

Kaenrae has no known or defined natural size, due to the fact that he can change his body size at will with his magic. He often either stands at a great height - from his feet to the top of his head - of around 10 meters (32.80 feet) or even higher - sometimes the height of a mountain or the size of a planet - or stands around the same height as Valdus. His body length from his chest to the base of his tail is the same as his height, while his tail is twice that length. He’s known for his long body and tail, and a boastful wingspan large enough to wrap himself in. His scales are renowned to be a purple dark enough almost to look black. His eyes are brighter than his scales, he has a bright, purple glowing tongue, and a set of metallic horns aiming backward which adorn his head. Spikes starting from the top of his head run down his back, down to the base of his tail, all aiming backward as well. Whatever his size is, his tongue can roll out long enough to reach the base of his tail. From the bottom of his neck down to his underbelly, the scales are a slightly brighter purple than the rest of the scales on his body, yet still noticeably darker than his eyes. He has a long tail with no spikes, and two large wings. He bears a large scar across his left wing resembling a bite mark. Claw-like points are at the end of both wings, and the membranes of his wings are slightly brighter, matching his underbelly.
His Realm Breaker Affinity causes his eyes to shine, whilst his right eye lights up with a purple flame. It also bleeds, and the Realm Breaker marking surrounds the iris. Purple flames seep from between his teeth, and small embers of the purple fire flicker from his body.
Entering a further state of his Realm Breaker Affinity, causes more of his body to become engulfed in purple flames and shadows. The flames and shadows form spikes across his wings, while sharpening his claws. Two Ethereal dragon heads made of dark, purple fire form beside him. His right eye bleeds even more in this state.

Special abilities

Kaenrae wields the Realm Breaker Key Affinity. He is best attuned to the Flamma Base Affinity. If Kaenrae is wounded, faint flickers of purple fire will sometimes cover his wounds, either easing the pain or even numbing it completely. Kaenrae can also warp to areas within a close range of his vicinity, or seemingly vanish, usually leaving behind a dark, purple fog. When Kaenrae uses his Realm Breaker Affinity, he can summon runes anywhere around his vicinity. He can either detonate, warp to, or stand on these runes like floating platforms regardless of placement or angle. This state also summons two ethereal dragon heads to fight beside him. His Essence also gains immense animosity when in the Realm Breaker state. Since Kaenrae is Soul-Linked to Valdus, he can speak telepathically to him, as well as being able to suppress Corruption outbreaks within Valdus. Doing so will cause both of them to fall unconscious as a result, though. Kaenrae can also warp to Valdus's sword.

Personal history

Kaenrae, at an early age not long after hatching, had lived a rather harsh upbringing; first orphaned, then abandoned, later on only to lose control of his own magic and becoming the sole reason his own species vanquished - leaving him as the last of his own kind. As a hatchling, he never knew who his mother and father were, and his own kin treated him as a 'cursed child' for his magic, casting him away from all other Blight Dragons and leaving him to fend for himself. He was later adopted by a larger fire dragon named Ignis, but even then, Ignis was unable to stick by Kaenrae’s side. Kaenrae was abandoned once more, as Ignis had hoped this was his best choice in letting Kaenrae to find safety, though that was not the case. He was targeted by the Corrupt, and soon with a tortured mind, he was lost to the abyss, losing control of himself to his own magic. His Realm Breaker Affinity took control and forced him to slaughter his own kind. Unknowing of this at first, Kaenrae learnt of what he had done when he was Cursed, after battling the Corruption and breaking free from it. Now his Realm Breaker Affinity lurks to take control of him instead.

Mental Trauma

Kaenrae, for a long time in his life, had lived feeling a lack of acceptance. He had later embraced the life of an outcast, and greatly regrets everything his Cursed-self had done. The slaughter of his own kind also weighs down on him, and thus, he becomes stressed when unable to set a selfless stance to save someone else, or even finds it difficult to accept being considered as a truly good person. He dislikes being seen in positivity by others and feels as though everything good he does for others is simply atonement for his past. Kaenrae also constantly fears how easily the Realm Breaker Affinity can take control of him.

Kaenrae sometimes portrays an obsession over Valdus. His favourite food is pork, and he loves drinking ginger beer. He loves having Valdus by his side, but also enjoys the company of others from time-to-time, especially Tenebrae, Valena, Nex and Vertex. That said, he and Valdus often enjoy time together without anyone else the most. He enjoys flights with him, and spends his leisure time with him, often utilising their Realm Breaker Affinities at low degrees for simple entertainment. Kaenrae loves the warmth and also favours being inside caves/dens. He often prefers not to be called cute/adorable/etc. and hates when someone worries about him.
