Backstory: Danika was born to a German carpenter and his wife. Her father did well enough financially that he was able to allow her music lessons, with the understanding that she was to be part of an arranged marriage to one of his most frequent customers and a much older man in addition. She assented quietly, willing to endure such a union for the love of music.
When she was 14, Alec Lothaire heard her playing the flute in the family garden on a full moon night. He watched and listened to her for a few years and learned all he could about her. Alec decided she deserved more than to be in an unwanted marriage and quite simply murdered her husband to be, drinking the young man dry and tearing him to shreds in order to make it look like an animal attack. When the shock of the death had passed, Lothaire introduced himself to her. She was instantly charmed by him. He would visit her every night for almost a decade, often reading poems he had composed with Danika as the inspiration. On another full moon night, he told her everything about himself...that he wasn’t a mortal man but a vampire. She listened calmly. It all made sense. She had always thought there was something unearthly about him. He offered Danika the choice of becoming Kindred or being mesmerized into forgetting him except as a vague memory. She was deeply in love with Lothaire and agreed. Alec took Danika in his arms and Embraced her. They left for France the next night. It wasn’t long before the two Kindred lovers were Blood Bound to each other.
They stayed in France until 1773 and left for America, settling in Ravenhurst, Connecticut. At first, Prince Whistler welcomed Alec and Danika. But after a couple of years, Whistler seemed to grow oddly resentful and even jealous of Alec. Danika for her part started to feel threatened to be in Ravenhurst and urged Alec to leave but he was a little too strong-willed to give in. The Time of Bloody Constraint came about. Danika lost friends she had made, including Leila Russo, Terence Pike, and Noah Smallwood when he decided to side with Whistler’s Tories. During this period, she Diablerized the Malkavian book collector, Luna Von Hagen. The experience disturbed her greatly as she got a glimpse of Luna’s memories. Luna was deeply afraid of some mysterious and sinister force she felt hovering over Ravenhurst. This is what Danika got flashes of.
Danika serves as Seneschal to her lover, Prince Lothaire. Some of the Primogen don’t like this arrangement and she knows it but they’re too cowed to say anything directly to her face. This is the least of her worries. She has started to fear that Luna’s notions of a frightful otherness haunting Ravenhurst weren’t just Malkavian paranoia. She sees other Kindred behaving at odds with their own natures from time to time, including Prince Alec. He seems worried about something, too. But for now, Danika tries to convince herself that all is well but she won’t be able to lie to herself forever.
Image: Danika is on the tall side with a medium build. She has wavey light brown hair and green eyes. She turns heads wherever she goes like a lot of the other beautiful Toreador Kindred. She dresses as per the occasion but will usually wear designer label clothing or custom-tailored wear.
Roleplaying Hints: You tell others what to do and keep things running smoothly for Prince Lothaire when he is otherwise busy. You maintain a mask of authority and composure while hiding your doubt and worry. Keep lying to yourself for as long as you can in order to avoid a complete breakdown.
