Asteraceae

Species family of the Main Florian species.

Morphology

Members of the Asteraceae family feature a strong woody Primary Stem System, with glandular hairs covering the stem body. The Peripheral Stem System compiles of cylindrical, branching stems that stand erect away from the body, leading to many Asteraceae Florians cutting off these stems. Depending on location, Asteraceae Florians have a very sparse range of leaf types, normally of simple structure. A distinguishing characteristic of the Asteraceae family is the large inflorescence upon the head, forming the Blossom Cluster (Hair). The family are unique for their sprouting flowers, that form in the shape of stars with sun rays growing out. For this trait, a common slang terms for Asteraceae type Florians is 'rays'. However, not all the Asteraceae family have these, another common Blossom Cluster of the Asteraceae is pappi structures, (bristly heads that disperse seeds, such as the dandelion). This allows members of the family with this type of Blossom to spread non fertilised seeds very quickly as the wind naturally blows off many of the thread thin structures.

Ecology

Asteraceae Florians are the most common type of Florian, with them having large populations around the Terranial Realm. Members of the species family mainly prefer dry locations that are not inclosed, as to maximize sunlight contact. Because of this, Asteraceae type Florians usually reside just above or below Ravaryns equator. The reason for which being the Florians nature to understand the best environment for growth and expansion of the species.
