Lunngow

Temporary

Much of Venarus relies on death for life to flourish. This cannot be more true for the Lunngow, who as a species, reproduce by planting their seeds into the corpses of other Sophonts. These seeds take root not only in the flesh of the deceased but also connect to the remnants of their soul. Over years, the corpse will be encased in a bark-like flesh before awakening as a fully formed Lunngow.

With each birth being such a difficult process, the Lunngow are an uncommon Sophont within the wilderness but not unheard of. Many do not trust their unnatural birthing rites and several cultures across Venarus carve out the hearts of their loved ones with the belief this will keep their corpses from becoming a Lunngow. That being said, no tribe would turn down a Lunngow ally. An ally masterful in Life magics and one that does not need anything but the sun to sustain themselves.
