Knucklerot
Introduction
As Humans age past their prime their bodies start failing them before their minds. One of the most common ways this starts to happen is Knucklerot, an acute genetic disorder that affects the joints of the elderly drastically affecting their manual dexterity.
Species-Wide
One particular trait of Knucklerot that is found in very few other ailments is the widespread nature. All humans, across all lands, can contract Knucklerot. This has lead to a belief that its origin may be even older than the First Men.
Transmission & Vectors
Knucklerot is transmitted genetically, however, the symptoms can be worsened by intense manual labor such as farming or fighting. It also can be transmitted through a curse if a magi were so inclined to do so.
Symptoms
Pain, stiffness, swelling, redness, and decreased range of motion are the most common of symptoms. Additionally, at the later stages of life Knucklerot has been reported to completely lock up joints for the remainder of the infected's life.
Treatment
This disease may be prevented for a short time through magical means such as a Restoration spell, but it is likely to return in a few months to a few years depending on the overall health of the afflicted.
