Meeting of Minds

General Summary

Still within the skeptical hospitality of Oya and the tiefling village, Korva asked about his lineage to the agèd elder. She surprisingly not only knew of Korva's family, but also of Korva himself. Noting him by the name of Korvu, she named each of his family from the past: his father and mother Yanisin and Tiwa; along with all of his siblings: Timble, Nullya, Rimbala, Callant, and Yas. She spoke briefly of the conflict that led to their deaths, when their village was in the Ruby Kingdoms, on what they assumed to be free lands for their tribes. Citizens of the Ruby Kingdoms attempted to enforce their reign over the land, but the Tieflings defended themselves and won.   This did not play to their favour, however, as the Tieflings were soon confronted by the much more powerful contingent of Ruby Kingdoms soldiers, led by Marquis Pineguard. Although peace was demanded, they tieflings could not give up land they did not see as belonging to anyone, and thus a conflict ensued, and the town was violently put down by the soldiers, with only the lucky few being able to flee. Korva weeped over his circumstance, and instead began to look toward the future.   The group set out from the Tiefling village, following the directions laid out by Alia's rumours of the next Pyre, along with the directions given by the tieflings themselves. An old ruin was perched within a large cave in the area, said to be accessible at times if the doors were open, with a strange pyre-like structure within. They made their way into the dank cave only to find the owlbears that were rumoured to reside within.   The group did their best to sneak by the creatures, only to gather their ire. A battle began within the temple proper, between both the owlbears, themselves, and a trap of skeletons that had been waiting for them.   After vanquishing their foes, they explored the rest of the very large room. To their worry, they discovered a dead Beholder in the center of the room. The Pyre was unlit, but it seemed those who were nearby were none to happy to see them. They were confronted by two individuals, heralded as: Ser Morgan and Princess Valice. The two demanded their purpose at the pyre, and the group did the same. They group stated they wanted to the pyres to be unlit, and the other two declared their intentions to light it. A conflict ensued. The party was surprised from the upper level by two who remained in stealth, waiting for the combat to begin, and with their remarkable spellcaster, the party was quickly put down, recovered, and then restrained, with the exception of Maul who resisted all advances.   The group of adventurers lit the pyre while the group was held as prisoners. Although the group was undecided what to do with the party, their mage by the name of Aisleigh insisted that they come to no harm while she attempted to discuss with them. The party learned that these adventurers came from a distant land of Avalon, and held very strange beliefs. They seemed to know of the dragon gods, including Tiamat, and their purpose in lighting the pyres was to free them. The adventurers took no ill will against the party, and bid them leave, but they bid to learn more about their association. With some discussion, the party and their new contacts began to make potential preparations of a wild trip across the world...
