Episode 4
General Summary
With a terrible encountered dealt with in the depths of Lock's Haven, and the strange gem retrieved, the party relieves themselves of their stay in the ruined dwarven city. On their way through the exits, they explored a cavern littered with spiders, risking life and limb for unique magical items on the cadavers of adventurers that came before them who did not fair as lucky.
Leaving Lock's Haven - and after a tumultuous travel the short-lived member of the party Rocky - they returned to the small village where Variyn hailed from. After attempting to recruit child labour a second time - with the potential promise of the young boy's service in the future - the returned through The Pervading Jade and back across the pleasant fields towards Lavant where their journey began.
The group reconvenes at the Mansion of Sincero Mentriosa. However, it seems that the master has abandoned the manor, with no sign of life remaining. Investigating the parlor, the group finds a letter written for them, asking for the gem. When the gem is placed upon the table, a strange vision of the Master's Butler appears, explaining a vague notion that they were involved in something greater. In the blink of an eye, the entire mansion is then engulfed in flames. Hurriedly, the group escapes the inferno, only to quickly learn that a contingent of soldiers were sent to report to this exact fire - an arson attempt they were warned about in advance. Realizing the group was about to be framed, through some cunning persuasion, the group aided in diverting the guards notion that they were arsonists, which seemed to befuddle them in some unexplainable way.
Having no further business with the guards, who continued to investigate the arson, the party was allowed to progress as they will. They traveled north, coming to a crossroads between a small area of Beryl known as Asteris, and the larger capital of Odessa to the north. It was agreed that the party wanted to investigate Asteris - if only because Crow insisted that he did not want to travel there - and that after a brief venture to the capital, they would return to the south, with further preparation for Maul and Jack's circus plans, still to be had back in Lavant within the fortnight.
