Xaelic Runewrite

Legend tells of a being that is almost parallel in power to the predator Dou, such is the bond of kinship. A younger sibling steps in the shadow of the deity of balance, although it does not share the same path. This entity is Xael, he covets the realm of chaos. His followers are largely that of savage tribes from the Shale Hide, although cryptic scrawlings in his dialect have surfaced in the history of civil society. These obscure runic messages are regarded as a poor omens, as they always crop up in the wake of disastrous events.
Xaelic runes often need to be translated by historians due to the lack of his worship in civil regions. The alphabet of this rigid imagery can be overlapped to form new meanings, or entire words or phrases, and because of this it is not always easily identifiable. Ciphers have been founded to decrypt this bewildering code, but due to its complexity they remain incomplete. If any notice is more advanced than basic runic writing it may take hours to interpret properly, and even then the missives of Xael's followers are often open to speculation.
Worshipers skulking the shadows have etched one symbol often enough that it has become somewhat recognizable. The word take seems to be used as both a territorial ward and a signet of notoriety, even so infamous as to have been carved into the skins of victims. Those few that survive encounters with Xaelic disciples usually recount little more than masked figures and painful delirium.
These symbols have also curiously been spotted etched on weathered stonework throughout the Gober Savanna, though to what importance is yet to be determined.
