The Lich of Barunwyld

The region of Miridel is still very much shrouded in mystery, largely in part due to its geographic difficulty. Bordered by oceans, mountains, and sheer cliff sides, this haven of nature is revered as the cradle of true elven lineage. The residents here are known as wildlings--elves that carry a bloodline superimposed with the raw mystical weave itself. Although not all wildlings are natural born practitioners of magic they do maintain distinguishable traits that make them unique to other elven clans. Most notably, each wildling is born with some benign animalistic feature such as hooves, scales, a tail, or horns. This feature is widely regarded as a type of birth mark, and most marks are mild enough that they do not develop nerve endings or growth patterns.
Although the average lifespan of a wildling resides in the range of six hundred years, envoys have a history of one particular individual that has resided in the forested capitol of Miridel for uncounted generations. This man is a reticent druid adorned in vine-thatched garb and numerous decorations woven with the bones of endemic creatures. His face is always obscured by a weathered skull mask and he stands taller than most wildlings at a height of seventy-six inches, some of which is encompassed by a pair of majestic branched antlers that are more prominent than most wildling's birth marks. He is a venerable mage simply known as the lich, a prominent political figure that swore an oath eras ago to accept the responsibility of adjudicating prodigious civil errands. Most notably, he is the sole authority delegated to selecting orators for Vagolan assemblies.
Envoys have stated in scrawlings that this figure is humble, quiet, and often hermetic.  The lich does not sleep, nor does he withdraw to any sort of residence.  He is regarded as a figure of the people, and respected for his dealings with diplomatic guests.  With the wildlings being a largely xenophobic culture, most visitors are directed to this individual to divulge the intent of their stay.
