Writer's Guidlines

Hello writers! This article serves as a guide to anyone that wants to add to the world.

Familiarizing yourself

Before adding anything to this Wiki, it is important to be familiar with the world. Below is a list of the most important articles, it is advised to read these before one starts writing so that nothing contradicts the basic rules of the world. When you have read the essential articles, head over to the guidlines section to find the rules for the type of article you wish to write.

List of Essential Articles

  • Introduction. The introduction to the world of Provincia. Contains a brief history and description of the world.
  • The Calamity. Article for the events that eventually led to the poisonous gas that covers the surface of the earth.
  • Falcons. Article for the Falcons, the proffesion of the game's main character.
  • Timeline. The complete timeline of the world.

Guidlines

General guidlines

These rules apply when writing any article.
  1. Write your article in a seperate text editing software (e.g. Word or Google Docs). When you are done, send it to Teodor Huldt over Slack for implementation.
  2. Always use tags. Add a tag list at the end of the document and seperate them with commas. Tags include each location mentioned, each character mentioned, each faction mentioned, etc.
  3. List the article title at the top of the document.
  4. List the article category (e.g. "location", "character", "journal", etc.) below the title.
If there is anything that is unclear, come talk to Teodor Huldt or Léo Smith for details.

Locations (mountains)

Example location   These rules apply when writing an article for a location.
  1. Use the mountains already in place! There are plenty of empty mountains under the Locations tab in the table of contents. Do not create new mountains when it is not necessary.
  2. When deciding the culture and history of a mountain/location, always consider the nearby areas, as well as their respective Old World nations, and their influence.
  3. Note the type of mountain (settlement, military base, college, etc.)
  4. If you are creating a settlement, deciding the type of settlement and the population size goes hand in hand. Always use the official D&D settlement categories when creating your settlement.
  5. Note the current leading faction in control of the mountain.

Characters

Example character   No guidlines for character building have been determined yet.

Factions

Example faction   These rules apply when writing an article for a faction. You can find a list of all existing factions here.
  1. All active factions (as of the year 2120) must have a current leader or leadership that the player can get quests from. Note the year of birth/foundation of the leader. A faction without a leader is considered disbanded.
  2. If the faction is officially disbanded (no current leadership), then you must note the last active leader/leadership.
  3. Wether active or disbanded, always note the founding/first leader.
  4. You may write a description of the leaders if you like.

Journals

These rules apply when writing an article for a journal.
  1. Word count limit: 200-500 words. If the journal extends the word limit, it is fine to divide the text into parts (e.g. part I & part II) as long as all parts are within the word limit themselves.
  2. Journals must never be written from a omnipresent view. They must be written by either an in-universe character or organization. Note this character's home mountain and faction (if any)
