Novayar (no-VAY-are)

Overview

Also known as Jacob Derikson, Novayar is a conjuring dragon hatched by Jheecu in the dragon clan of Kucho, and subsequently fostered in human society. Until the age of sixteen he did not know of the existence of magic or of the fact he is a dragon. He was fostered by the Deriksons, a family of Aacatous, shapeshifters.
Appearance and Personality
As a human, Novayar appears as someone with mixed heritage, appearing as both of Oriental and Caucasian. His skin tone closely matches that of the people of East Asia, though his facial features appear more westernized. He keeps his black hair very short and his face free of hair. Novayar is short for his age, but not by much. Regular trips to a gym and training keep him fit and trim, even with some visible muscles on his arms.   As a dragon, Novayar is completely unique, having morphed into the first conjuring dragon in over ten thousand years. As a result, no one knows how his size and build compares to other conjurers. Because of his age, gender, and type, Novayar is quite smaller than most other dragons, almost fitting in with dragons a few years younger than himself. He is a swift flyer, not as agile as others expect him to be, but this may very well be a common trait of conjurers.   When among familiar faces and comfortable situations, Novayar's sense of humor comes out by its own volition, but he does not often make a conscious effort to be funny. Novayar is curious and inquisitive, and has an easy time learning academic subjects. Because of this, though, he easily becomes frustrated or self-doubting when a subject escapes his comprehension.   Generally, Novayar is kind and is not likely to desire to harm anyone. When in situations where a desirable outcome involves hurting someone (e.g. training) Novayar becomes nervous and hesitant.
History
Novayar, along with his sixteen other nestmates, were taken from their mother soon after hatching in an elaborate kidnapping plot by the elders of the Kucho clan. Their intent was to prevent Jheecu, the hatchlings' mother, from negatively influencing another generation of dragons by placing them out of reach. All seventeen, including Novayar, were placed among Lakis or dragon families with no knowledge of their past, as is sometimes custom for many dragon young. Novayar and his nestmates all were taken to places throughout central and south Florida.
