Parchmouth
Parchmouth (or parched mouth) is a psychological condition that has been known to affect those living in or moving through deserts for long periods of time who are not acclimatised to the temperature and humidity of the environment.
Causes
It is believed that symptoms of Parchmouth begin when one spends an extended amount of time in a vastly different climate to that which they are used to. As such it is most commonly encountered in either very hot, or very cold environments where those who suffer from it have not acclimatised quickly enough.
Studies on those previously afflicted with Parchmouth have also noted that the symptoms begin to occur immediately after sleeping, leading those investigating the illness to believe it is going without water for an extended period which cause this in the first place
Symptoms
The only direct symptom of Parchmouth is an unending thirst for drinkable water, this in itself is not seen as a major issue, however when travelling the desert with limited water supplies for oneself and those around if partied up, the negative impact can quickly become apparent.
If drinking a normal amount of water no harm will come from Parchmouth, however those who find themselves with this illness will often find they have little to no control over how much they drink if it is available to them.
Treatment
There is no guaranteed effective treatment for Parchmouth as the symptoms tend to disappear when the afflicted are able to stay in a cool place and allowed to acclimatise to the environment slowly.
Prognosis
The most likely course for this condition is for it to disappear within the week of it affecting an individual.
If the affected is allowed to drink as much as this illness makes them believe they need it can be fatal, with the bladder becoming bloated by the water which they are taking in and the body being unable to dispose of it quick enough. The most common fatality that has been observed is that bladder stops working altogether and bursts, flooding the internal organs
