Posica

<<< BACK TO BELARI OCEAN   Posica is the largest of three continents on the planet, and the most historied of its kind. It lies to the west of the Belari Ocean. The land is divided into five "sectors", each ruled by a "sectant", though functionally they are as independant as separate nations and are often regarded as such.   Only the Eastern coast of Posica

Geography

Sectors

  • Evitt- The eastern-most sector on the continent. It also spans the entire eastern beach.
  • Tesid - The central sector, and the most culturally advanced. Considered the "capital" of Posica, unofficially.
  • Sacre - (pn. "SACK-er") A poor yet exotic sector to the southwest, known for its vibrant and rich culture.
  • Grya - An un-interesting sector to the west, between Sacre and Tonida. It's known for making a delicious sauce, however.
  • Tonida - The northwestern sector, fairly isolationist and known to broker for level-headedness and peacefulness.

History

The Sector Initiative

At some point, the nation of Posica had gotten so widespread across the continent that keeping political hold over it was impossible. The continent's ruler at the time had created the "sector initiative", which saw the creation of "sectors" across the landscape to each be overseen by a "sectant". Over time, and with a lot of skirmishes, heated discussions and loophole-juggling, these sectors were morphed into individual nations of their own right (while keeping their "sectored" status). Posica's ruler had become the ruler of only a single sector, though it was also the most powerful and influential of these new sectors, Tesid.

The Posican Civil War

During the post-industrial era, the relations of Posica's nations broke down drastically. The Sacrese sub-sectant was assassinated during a live broadcast, and the assassin was discovered to be Evitti. The public outcry was enormous, and in response the Sacrese army was sent to attack an Evitti city. Tesid troops were sent to defend the city as per a previous agreement, and the Sacrese government decided to attack them, too.   What followed was an almost untrackable series of battles across the continent, with every nation taking part. Alliances were formed and broken, cities were evacuated, the entire land mass was devastated. The death count was estimated to be around 1,975,000 soldiers, and 300,000 civilians.   The war didn't end until the Sacrese sectant, Govel Myerr, was killed during a morale visit to a recently captured military outpost. His successor, Kriv Hyur, immediately began making concessions to bring the war to an end, apologizing for the actions of his government and willingly accepting most reasonable demands offered. It took a bit of time to stop all of the fighting (Evitt in particular didn't back down from their attacks for almost half a year), but the war officially ended with all parties signing peace treaties with eachother at an event known as "the silence of the five".

The National Council (NC)

After the war, the continent's five nations formed the National Council, an entity intended to stop another massive war before it started. It was made up of five representatives, one each of each nation, who would meet every year to discuss current events and address any building tensions or issues faced between governments. Most notably, domestic terrorism and a growing crime syndicate had slowly become threats, and the NC would often focus its energy into fighting it.
