Xian (Sinner) culture

Birth of Xian culture

Xian was a term used by Taoists in China to refer to immortals, including mortals who gained immortality during their lives. Despite Gerontib, the first Telmod, being developed in the United States (though rapidly globalised), Xian was the word that people who took Telmods used for themselves.   The side effects of taking first generation Telmods and of the accompanying cancer treatment, alongside the social changes resulting from immortality (principally the vast wealth divide) resulted in the growth of a discreet culture.   To many, this was an elite culture to be copied by those who could not afford Telmods, to others the use of Telmods and any associated culture was vilified as unholy and arrogant. Those who hate Telmods call users the unfortunate pinyin transliteration of Xian - Sin(ners).

Food practices

The poor enteral nutrient absorption combined with nausea in most Xian has led to certain practices around food and eating. Many Xian take IV nutrition through a ported line in their chests, eating little to no food orally. Drinks and moisture devices are more common, through these the Xian can satisfy some desire for taste. Those who do eat do so in small quantities often through the day. One can picture their tall thin bodies laid on divans occasionally being fed caviar and other luxury foods by servants. Foods with low calorific value and with nauseating smells (fish particularly) are generally avoided and thought to be lower class.
