The Church of Civilization

Mortals can never come to a consensus on the divine. No where is more apparent then The Church of Civilization. Though all denominations revere civilization and recognize the god(s) Cothar and/or Ethinminoa (at least in name) they then began to differentiate them selves. Some recognize one god or the other, some additional gods, some gods under the name of others, and incredibly some recognize all other gods.

Public Agenda

To promote law, order, and the spread of 'civilization'

Divine Origins

Deep within all sentient beings' heart resides desires for order, safety, and community. From those desires Civilization emerged, and some saw it, whether rightly or wrongly, as an act of the divine and began to worship it.

Tenets of Faith

How things are, are how they are meant to be.
Thou Shalt obey authority.

Ethics

Sins

It is considered blasphemy to commit regicide, for to the faithful not only is it the murder of their leader who they owe their allegiance, safely and peace to, but the murder of one of their gods. Along with this line of reason betrayal is considered one of the greatest crimes. Any crime is a sin, even if it's considered "unjust". It is even wrong to break convection.

Piety

The pious obey the laws and authority. They participate actively in the community. They get married and have children.

Granted Divine Powers

Rarely are supernatural powers granted to priests or ordinary faithful, for they ways they have sought to understand the gods are misguided and at the worst blasphemy. Those rare few who are gifted the powers that generally influence others, though some are gifted the power to create.

Political Influence & Intrigue

The Church usually holds powerful sway in the creation and enforcement of laws in kingdoms that has a large fallowing in, typically in an advisory role. The influence of the Church upon society has lead to the creation of strict gender norms, where women serve a more parental role and handled the household in contrast men function as the voice of the family in regards to relations of the family with the larger community.
