Squeerms

As in squirm, and squeezer-worm.
They are giant worms, as fat as your thigh and three times as long as yourself.
Their bodies are covered by compounded chitin rings, that overlap like scales over their powerful yet flexible bodies, that can shrink and stretch greatly. Thanks to this, they will grapple the prey, and then squeeze it to death, by suffocating it, or making it burst, and then they will eat it whole.
Their maws have hundreds of small yet razor-sharp teeth, that are very handy as arrowheads.
They are very common in sand deserts, where the sand doesn't oppose resistance to their digging, and where they dig until reaching depths where dryness and heat are no longer a problem, emerging only to feed. They are completely blind, but they are extremely sensitive to vibrations, and that's what they use to sense prey.
They have been found in other habitats, such as dunes, beaches, or muddy terrain, but they are far less common.
