Jackaroos

Jackaroos are among everyone's favorite prey.
They are herbivores that descend from hares.
They look like a jackrabbit the size of a 6 year old kid, with very small frontal legs and very strong rear legs they use to jump around. Basically, they are pretty much like a mammalian version of a kangaroo, with long ears, and a medium sized fluffy tail.
When they move slowly and short distances they are pretty clumsy, but when it comes to moving fast, they don't run, they just jump at great speed, they are quite fast.
Their ability to jump is remarkable. Their leaps can reach 5 m horizontally and 2,5 m high.
They reproduce at an insane rate. Males tend to be loners, and females usually hang around with their sisters and their collective offspring. Hence, it is usual to see groups of about 5 female adults and many leverets and youngsters, up to 20 individuals in total. Each litter is of about 4-8 leverets that are born fully developed (open eyes, covered in fur and capable of jumping).
They scare easily and when they do, they run for their lives. Mothers don't defend their kids, they just run, and assume the slower ones will become someone else's meal.
They are too dumb and stubborn to be tamed, and they are difficult to keep in captivity because they jump over fences. Some people do it, though, because their meat and pelts are very good, and they reproduce very fast.
