Inquiry System

When you need to get some information you can use your contacts to find out what you need.
This typically takes 6 hours.
You can do this by different means:
  • Asking Nicely: Roll Charisma & Persuasion. Involves being nice, asking for favors, cashing favors, inviting beers, etc.
  • Trickery: Roll Manipulation & Deceit. Involves lying and tricking people into telling you what they know.
  • Social Threats: Roll Manipulation & Intimidation. Involves abusing a position of power.
  • Violent threats: Roll Strength & Intimidation. Involves bruising a couple of people.
You spend the time, and after that time you make the roll.
  • Critical Failure: Something bad happens.
  • Failure: No one you know has the information you need.
  • Success: You get the information you wanted.
  • Raises: You can use raises for the following:
    • Less time: You can use 1 raise to spend one hour less, cumulative.
    • More Info: You can use 1 raise to give you one extra piece of interesting info, cumulative.
Modifiers to Difficulty:
  • Inconvenient Hours: +2 Everyone is asleep.
  • Rare Info: +4 the information is known only by a select few.
Modifiers to your roll:
  • Incentive: +2 You spend 50 Barter as incentive for cooperation.
  • Bribe: +4 You spend 200 Barter as Incentive for cooperation.
Limitations:
You cannot use this edge to:
  • Glean well-kept secrets, things that only one person or a tight group of people knows and fiercely guards.
  • You cannot use this edge to get very technical information about knowledges such as Tech, Tinker, Nature Lore, Poisoncraft, Brewing, Tactics, Mining, and the like.
