The Lunarchy

Overview

The Lunarchy, also referred to as the Church of the New Moon, is a powerful religious institution in the city. The Church worships The New Moon, a massive, bright moon that hangs over Prevnost through a rare transparent and free-floating fracture. The Lunarchy consists of over a hundred churches spread throughout nearly all districts of the city, and a large Cathedral in Light Reach that serves as its base of operations. The High Lunarch is the leader of the church, as well as one of the two major leaders of the city.

Head Quarters

The Cathedral of the New Moon serves as the churches center of operations. Its a sprawling compound in Light Reach, bound by four towers on its corners. These towers are manned by Elite Lunarchs, nicknames Eyes, who vigilantly guard the Cathedral and the Fracture revealing The New Moon.

Joining the Lunarchy

Starting as an Acolytes, one can rise to High Priest through devotion to the Church and The New Moon, and dedication to its goals. High Priest is the highest rank one can achieve before becoming a Lunarch, which requires being chosen by The New Moon. How the chosen High Priests are selected isn't publicly known, but those who are chosen go through The Ascension. The Ascension is a ritual held on the annual Festival of Light, a celebration of the arrival of the New Moon, the anniversary of the Fracture. Ascendees are lifted into the sky and pass through the fracture and are blessed directly by the New Moon. They're returned as Lunarchs.

Lunarchs

These strange and inscrutable protectors of the church possess immense power. They are always adorned in polished ornate plate armor and a hooded cloak with a shrouded face. They are known to never speak and a have a reputation amongst non-believers to be brutal in their methods of protecting the Church and its interests.

The Voice of Light

A High Priest selected by the High Lunarch act as their voice.

Public Agenda

To inspire and instill faith and love in The New Moon, and provide for those willing to bask in its light.
