Mankind thought themselves safe, living happily on earth. For centuries they grew out, advancing and studying the world around them, even building into the sky itself. But alas at their peak, doom came for them from the above. An immense storm from outer space, crackling with nuclear lightning and toxic gasses soon lit up the night sky as it approached the planet. Humanity could but watch, unable to flee in time and very few able to hide underground.   Luckily the planet had a way of saving itself. Now, not all planets are alive, in fact the vast majority are not, it is only when life has grown and died on a world for millennia that a planet starts to gain a soul, and although young, earth had a very strong soul. Gaia, guardian of earth, summoned up the vast majority of it's energy and opened a portal, swallowing the earth in an instant and transporting it to a nearby dimension, the nearest, most hospitable one it could.
