Muchanne

Muchanne is a neutral island that is home to Astrum Manor, the gathering place of The Institute of Wizards. Since the time of the mages, the area has always been surrounded with a feeling of foreboding.  
The island only half exists on the material plane. Similar to the other mythical isles of Poraile - like Avalon and Listeneise - it can only be accessed or seen every so often. For Muchanne, outsiders can travel there at the start of each season, but it only stays in this plane for 2 weeks or so. Then, it disappears to some unknown reaches. 
Those who are full-time residents of Muchanne don't want to explain where the island goes when it disappears, but assure people that they haven't come to any harm. With a wry smile, they tell people "they must've seen a mirage" and go on their way.
