Death

Fatalis (a.k.a. The Grim Reaper)

The final Horseman of the Apocalypse, little is known about Death's true nature, which makes them all the more terrifying. After Famine's work is done, Death is the one that ultimately brings all mortal existence to a close upon the End of Days.

Tenets of Faith

All beings have an equal potential for both good and evil. Sorrow and destruction, though filled with despair, are necessary for the creation of new life and wonder in the universe. Sacrifice is in the heart of all joy and vice versa. Therefore, Death sees mortals as an infinite fountain of joy in an otherwise stagnant universe.    To them, mortals are innately fearful. They fail to embrace what they cannot identify or find too painful to see, hoping that once hidden it will disappear. Though, unlike Gods, to perish is an integral part of a mortal's existence, they are afraid to know that their efforts and all the sights they've come to love will eventually disappear. They fear to be replaced or forgotten, since they know not their true impact on the world.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

To bring death to the world as a whole, now all citizens have been destroyed. As the cosmic harvester, Death collects the aether of the mortal plane ready for a new world to be created. In this mission, Death makes no distinction between a mortal and divine realm, able to reap both of their essence.    That being said, Death sees no benefit in destruction for its own sake and prefers to only unleash their power when a world is beyond salvation. By this stage of the apocalypse, it is assumed the target realm is unworthy of such mercies.

Physical Description

Special abilities

Can channel aether the most efficiently out of the Four Horsemen. Known in some texts as "the most powerful and inevitable mage".

Apparel & Accessories

Wears a long, dark blue robe that resembles the night sky. Its hood is large and covers most of what would be Death's face.

Specialized Equipment

Death rides a pale horse and carries a scythe to reap aether and souls.

Mental characteristics

Gender Identity

Though Death's gender isn't made clear, the Horseman is often referred to with either (they / their) or (he / him) pronouns.

Education

Once a powerful and highly driven scholar, Death went about the world learning all they could about the universe and its inhabitants. Upon realising they had become immortal, their mind wandered and eventually they were bored by this pursuit. Instead, they now seek to create using the knowledge they have gathered.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Though initially motivated to reforge worlds out of boredom, Death now seeks to make worlds more interesting and bountiful than the last. Their interest mostly lies in how mortals choose to lead their limited lives, so they make a habit of interviewing them in person, even when still living. This is how the phrase "near-Death experience" came into common usage.

Hygiene

Has little reason to keep clean, but some testimonies report that Death appears to people just as they are about to shower or take a bath, sitting in the prepared water before them. It's rumoured that if a witness allows Death to use their bath, they will live a long and peaceful life.
