Lòm

In the Vatashian Calendar Lòm marks the last day of the month, it is a holiday observed by virtually all people of the Western Desert and the Western Hills. Lòm is an extraordinal day, which means that despite being after the 36th day it is not referred to as the 37th but just as "Lòm". The word "Lòm" in itself can mean: "the last day" or "the day of completion".

On Lòm the vast majority of observants do not work, and gather with their household or also with their neighbours for a celebratory meal, which, if means allow, is prepared since the early hours of the morning.

The pronunciation "Lòm" /lɔm/ comes from the literal reading, rather than the expected numerical reading, of the Old Vatashian glyph for the day's date. In the Vatashian Calendar and all calendars that stem from it, each week is divided into three sub-weeks of three days each, and the outermost quarter circle of the date-glyph represents the day's position within a sub-week. Knowing that no sub-week ever has more than three days, Lòm is the only day to have the day marker of its date-glyph reach the fourth position. Furthermore, the innermost element shows an extremely seldom occurrence of the full circle, outside of numerical glyphs, which represents completion, Lòm being the last day of the month.
