Astral Sea
The astral plane, known as the astral sea, is the plane in which all others sit. It appears as a large sea, filled with a purplish-black watery liquid. The horizon has a violet haze, granting ambient light but also limiting ones view after (30 miles / 1 hex). The sky appears as it does at night, black with an array of stars. The center of the vast astral sea are the remnants of the material plane, pockets of surviving civilization. Circling around the material planes are the outer planes, where creatures of vast power reside, leaders of powerful religions that grant mortals powers. Beyond them lies an empty sea.
Physics work slightly different than in the planar spheres. For instance, whoever stands in the sea itself always finds themselves waist deep regardless of height. This applies to objects as well, including ships. The air of the astral sea is breathable, so in theory a person could walk to their destination. However the vast distances make this improbable and people who drink too much from the waters of the astral sea will begin to suffer void madness.
