Planar Breach

A Portable Hole and Bag of Holding. Every adventurer knows that when these two wondrous items are combined it creates a rift, sucking in everything in a 10-foot radius to be lost forever in the astral plane. The wizards and craftsmen of the old world took this arcane concept and refined it. Empowered it. Perfected it.   The awesome weapons of war became easily produced and increased in yield. Entire buildings, entire armies, entire cities and countries could be consumed in a single magical wink. Devices could be magically propelled hundreds of miles to their target to be wished away to the astral plane.   That is how the world ended...   ...But how your story begins.   Hundreds of years later marvelous ships sail the astral sea, bringing goods and supplies between islands of civilization in the vast emptiness. Strange creatures, pirates, and friendly aliens cross paths with a shattered world.
