Into Sablocéan

You find yourselves on the sandy streets of Goraco. It is a cool 33° and singular clouds break up the otherwise relentless afternoon sun. You are currently on one of the high streets of the city, and before you, as far as the dry sandy winds allow vision, stretch the sand-coloured buildings and high towers, that make the cityscape so recognizable. The city holds a sort of practical impressiveness. The wall's main task, while useful during sieges and at night, is to keep out the hard eastern sandstorms that weekly hit the city. In most of the streets, houses lean towards each other, held in place with tough wooden beams crossing between. This construction helps stabilize the building against the regular earth tremors and storms, while creating lifesaving shade for the inhabitants going about their daily business. The wooden beams double as practical placement for clothing and other fabric to air and dry off sweat or washing water, which in turn helps to provide further shade down below. Throughout the city countless bells and chimes keep everyone informed about incoming winds and worsening weather, giving it the common nickname "The Singing City". While this wondrous city is, on the surface, quite different from what you are used to in Głowna it holds the spirit of its stout people true to heart.   When you first arrived, the city seemed so impressive and overwhelming. You wandered new street after new street, and had you kept going, you were sure that this could have continued for days. You had never imagined that so many people could live so close to one another, let alone in all of Plaisir... However, even the most wonderous things become second nature as their shine is dulled by the monotony of life, and the darker colder side of the city had quickly shown its teeth. Never before have you been so close to so many people, and never have you felt more alone. The indifference is the only thing that feels chill in the hellish heat...   Hard times have forced you to this hostile place, for, while nobody cares about you here, everybody cares about your money, and money solves all problems. Talking about money; yesterday, you found a note posted on the community board in one of the many markets scattered across the city. "The opportunity of a lifetime!", it had said, "A journey into the history of Plaisir", "Help uncover one of the lost treasures of Sablocéan!". You rarely bother with the details of such things. However the pay, oh the pay! You certainly bother with that!... At first, you had taken it for a mistake or a stupid joke, however, when you realised it was true, you had quickly torn down the note and stuffed it into your pack; no one was about to take this opportunity from you.   The note states that the people needed should hold exceptional survival skills, wit, versatility and, while hopefully not needed, should be decent combatants. The job is estimated to one week, however, "It could drag on...". Well, with pay like that, it can drag on for as long as it wants!   You take one last look upon the city while tightening the straps on your rucksack. As you head out through the gates and into the house designated on the notice you feel a strange tucking in your stomach; you may not see civilisation like that for some time...
