Sea of Saspitain
On all sides of the main continent the sea sparkles with the same pale turquoise water, and so it is understood that this is one sea, the Sea of Saspitain, which cradles the continent. While there are islands around the mainland, such as the Island of Trawkord, the sea is generally viewed as the border of the known world, and those who would hope to travel past the nearby islands are viewed with about the same level of skepticism as someone hoping to travel past the sky.
This method of thinking is actually so pervasive that there is a common superstition that if you were to dig deep enough, you would hit an impassible barrier of blue stone, thus bordering Placeholdia on all fronts by impassible blue barriers.
The Sea is not often viewed as confining or a prison, however, but beneficial. it's waters are often calm, without dangerous currents, and it is very pleasing to the eye. It is seen as the main enabler of trade, with shipping routes being much safer than those overland, even when they pass above the territories of the shark people.
Geography
Inescapable. The Sea of Saspitain is on all sides of Placeholdia, but is a benevolent captor. Often calm, light turquoise, and salty, the sea offers a vista of peace to any who gazes upon it, unless one of the infrequent storms are passing.
Fauna & Flora
Fish, Squid, Eels, and a bounty of kelp.
