Mountain Wagons
Traveling through the mountains can be treacherous for anyone. Some engineers and magicians have developed means for folks to make it across the difficult mountain terrain with little to no incident, specifically mountain wagons.
Mountain wagons are a safer, though expensive, way to get across the mountains. Folks with the means and resources can spend the time and money to acquire mountain wagons for their travelers. These wagons are described as one-and-a-half times bigger than traditional wagons seen on trails and cities. These vehicles are reinforced with armor, and the wheels are also strengthened to withstand the rocky roads and mountain snow.
Some engineers will outfit their mountain wagons with metal plating. The risk with this method is the wagon will move slower and weigh more, possibly hindering the animals pulling them. Other designers will gather natural materials like hide from large animals or thicker wood to bolster their mountain wagon’s defense.
Spellcasters who dabble in engineering will use arcane magic to cover the wagons in an arcane protective coating. The Spellslinger Guild specialize in making these types of vehicles.
Large horses or other pack animals covered in barding will pull mountain wagons. As an alternative to using animals, spellcasters will conjure invisible steeds for pulling their wagons, or summon elemental spirits.
Mountain wagons are expensive, and most people who have one tend to come from old money families. Travel organizations will rent their wagons out to folks and charge up to 500 gold. Special guilds will acquire mountain wagons for their members to use in their travels.
Skilled mechanics who collect enough materials can make their own mountain wagons. Most mechanics will purchase resources or acquire them out in the wild, in the case of using natural armor. Schematics for mountain wagons can be purchased in large cities, or from travel organizations
