Imalengaq

Once a border town that served as a midpoint for a small mining settlement and logging villages, Imalengaq now sticks out like a sore thumb. Increasingly aggressive invaders from the north have caused most of the townsfolk to leave. Those that remain make a living selling goods and services to a new breed of resident. The "adventurer".

Demographics

Very varied, even before the adventurers came, as is common across the Eastern Settlements.

Government

The defacto government here is the Irregular Adventurers Guild. They have been provided with grants of funding by the recently formed Speaking People's Council and charged with the task of dealing with the threat posed by the deteriorating inter-planar barrier to the north. The guildmistress hires adventurers from all across the land (adhering to the quotas required by the council!) and employs them fortifying the town and guarding it, as well as sending the adventurers out on expeditions into the deserts to the north.

Infrastructure

A hastily built wall stretches from west to east across the northern edge of town, fortifying it against intruders from the north.

History

The town was established just past the last hill of the foothills of the Eastern Mountain Range. Half a day's journey up into the foothills was the mining settlement of Ikermivik and Imalengaq was very useful as a supply town for the miners, forming a more accessible point for trade with other areas. It also had good trade with the logging settlements in the woods to the east.
All that changed in 2014 AB when a sudden spike in inter-planar creatures caused the mine and logging to be abandoned.
The people of Imalengaq also began to leave, but when the Irregular Adventurers Guild made the town the site of their headquarters it brought new opportunities for employment and income.
The civilian population of the town has even begun to grow!
