Magelock Asylum

Magelock Asylum was a secret prison created to contain magical deviants during the rule of Emperor Claudio VII. Archmage Halvern oversaw the construction of the asylum. Immediately after the Great Purge, Halvern and his top advisers were banished to the asylum.

Since then, the asylum has served as a prison for anyone caught performing magic in Pentavia.

History

Magelock Asylum was founded as a penal colony for magic users.

Archmage Halvern selected the location for Magelock to be secluded and entirely self sufficient. Fragments of his journals that have been recovered from the ruins of Islos indicate that he used magic to create any amenities that were not already provided by his selected location.

Location

Recovered fragments of Archmage Halvern's journals indicate that it is somewhere on the Wuhuku Islands, but no one knows the exact location. Many expeditions have attempts to find it, but none have succeeded. That had led to speculation that it is hidden by enchantments. Other scholars argue that the Pentavia League purposefully left those journal fragments to mislead anyone who might want to find the asylum.

Greencloaks

Magelock Asylum is under the care of the greencloaks, who all report to the archmage.

Magelock Asylum is surrounded by wards that prevent anyone from enter or leaving the grounds. The only way in or out is through the teleportation spell that allows the greencloaks to leave for short periods of time to arrest magical deviants.

Notable Prisoners

Lord Kobald was the last mage to be taken by the greencloaks. Other notable prisoners include Stitch, Crosby of Esnor, and Lazlo the Mad. Some speculate that Bruno Zaberwald was taken by the greencloaks, but as they have not been seen since the end of the war, that speculation has not been confirmed..

Present Day

The Greencloaks have not been seen since the end of the Wizard's War in 1304 AE when they helped Treland defeat the Kobalds.
