Session 9: Hohme is Where the Heartland is

General Summary

Day 6 arrives. Nothing exciting happens besides five hippogriffs with halfling riders approach the airship. The crew seems unconcerned, confused, and curious. Captain Kolgrima is baffled at the thought of anyone attempting to cause damage to the Dwarven empire at the cost of trades. The gang rallies up defenses and orders Bursi and his men to arm themselves.   The avian guests arrive and lo and behold, they are in fact here to commandeer the ship. Despite being heavily outnumbered and outclassed, their desperation was admirable. I think. These stellar individuals are poor in combat and their uncertainty shows. With the loud chanting and roars of the battlelust dwarves, three of the hippogryph riders GTFO.   Warric, the leader of this little group, jumped off of his hippogriff and threw his demands with a meek voice. Shackled in place by Arete and reduced in size by Daz, this now Quarterling was surrounded by giants. The other rider, [Deft?], pleads for his friend’s life. We give the Halfling and his Quarterling brother food and learn of their mission. They hail from Bosvena, one of the five city-states that comprises Heartland. Bosvena, unfortunately, is a desert environment and is poor at growing produce. In return of a knapsack of food on their return home, they (Warric and Deft) provided two hippogryph beak tips. Whether or not we need the whole beak or a portion of the beak for Gnorr Hammerfist's request is unknown.   On the last evening of our trip, Elgin sang the tale of the rivalry of Barram Jetgilder and Dubhglas Leadbeard.   We reached our final destination: Hohme. Future renaming? I think not. A bustling city with a giant spire used as a loading dock, layered with tiers upon tiers. No sooner than making our descent down the spire, Virgil notes a white owl slowly encircling us. The owl is a familiar of the recipient of the necklace-of-mass-destruction.   The drop off point is within the Church of Altir, a massive cathedral built of pure white marble. Arete enters the church and sits in one of the pews close to the front altar and waits. And waits. And waits. The white owl reappears and lands on the shoulder of another Halfling. Pleasantries are exchanged, the Halfling looking nervous at a human-disguised Arete. Arete, against his own best interests, gambles to tell this Halfling that this necklace holds a destructive power and great consideration should be taken on what to do with the amulet. The Halfling scoffs at Arete’s warning and makes his way off.   With Krathag’s animal speak and Arete’s skill in being able to cast spells via his familiar, Miranro is guised in invisibility and trails this Doomsday recipient. Stalking this figure, his homebase is discovered and the Halfling stashes a golden jeweled item into a night stand and scurries into town. Miranro decides to continue to trail this figure. As for the rest of the group, they are off chilling around the alley.
