Session 22: An Unexpected Reunion

General Summary

Skill check trial to avoid advancing shadows after the Umbral Hulk skirmish
Rest up and pursue a trail that leads into a cave
Wasted time trying to smoke out the cave and setting up traps - the cave is empty
Encountered an oddly moist barrier within the cave that seems organic in nature, that Elgin can open
We enter this room (Room 1) that has a giant dragon-esque machination, and 4 statue receptacles that can hold an orb the size of a basketball
Room next over (Room 2) houses jail cells of frightened halflings, presumably taken from their farmstead. They seem decently coherent and uninfected by parasites
Continued down the hall and there is a room (Room 3) with 3 connecting rooms: an armory, a torture chamber, and a bedroom for these grey “servants” that serve The Master
- These servants greet us with no hostility and acknowledge Elgin as another master, but not The Master.
Next room over (Room 4) is a large foyer with a spawning pool of larva parasites in the center, multiple small rooms that housed various things from cannons, to inactive Ropers (2), to a sleeping Umbral Hulk
- There is also a hole in the ceiling on the eastern side of the room, designed to move via flight. The group hoists one another to get to the floor above
Command room (room 5) has 3 servants maintaining a giant floating one-eyed tentacled being. They are non-hostile, and the giant eye speaks telepathically to Elgin, asking for additional orders
- We get a feeling this moist dungeon is some form of ship
- Command room has multiple rooms, more cannons, an observation room for specimen undergoing larval metamorphosis (high rate of failure apparently)
- The Master’s “pet” room

- Legendary Gnomish Engineer, Fak Egglezib; friend of Daz, has been missing for many years.
- Metamorphosed into a tentacled being that speaks telepathically as well.

The group decides to engage into the next room, which is the Master’s quarters
