Scribe

An entry point to The Library, a Scribe is responsible for knowing as much of The Library's vast wealth of knowledge. They use this to barter for outsiders' requests with useful questions to further extend their intellectual abundance.

Appointment

To become a Scribe, one must first be selected for tutelage as a young adult under an existing Scribe. Most Scribes only take on one or two scribes-in-training at a time, so being selected as one is considered a great honor! However, the training takes decades, including decades of study, handwriting lessons, social studies, literary organization, directed research, and long-term memory tests.

Responsibilities

Scribes are The Library's primary interaction with the rest of the world. A member of the public may enter a Library, and request information. If that information is within the Library, then the Scribe will exchange the knowledge for a bit of knowledge yet unknown. If a Scribe does not carry a sufficient proportion of the Library's wealth of knowledge, then they might unknowingly accept known information, wasting an opportunity to learn something new. The punishment for this is years of study during a temporary loss of their title. If a Scribe gives out inaccurate information, it would stain the Library's reputation. The punishment for this is public and disfiguring. If a Scribe gives out information for free, the punishment would be brutal and mortal.
