Bleuwass

The home of the drink "Azurite Flow".

It isn’t particularly breathtaking, but it has its charm. Nestled among the rolling hills, parted by the small river of Dresen, Bleuwass is a peaceful place. The small streets and staircases are never overcrowded, but have enough going around to show the town is doing well. There is a place here thoguh which constantly bustles with life and it is the azurite mine and the manufacture of the "Azurite Flow" located up the northern hill. Rumbling, drilling, the sound of flowing water - there is always work going on there by day and even often at night.

Infrastructure

The most distinct elements of the town are all centred around the azurite mine located on top of the settlement’s northern hill.

"Azure" Railway Bridge

An imposing iron-cast structure which looks over the town. Located on its border over the river valley, the bridge connects the mine to the main railway system on the opposite side, allowing easier transport of the resource. As a nod towards its purpose, the frame had been painted blue.

Bleuwass Azurite Mine

The heart of the town’s economy and the reason for its success. The mine has three major shafts drilling into the sides of the hill and a big open pit at the very top. A special platform made out of stone gives more flat space for mine infrastructure, such as storages and a cargo train depot. The miners live in the town, so there is no need for housing built within the area of the mine. From the upper parts of the town, an elevator system can carry miners to work. Recently a special tram has been built that allows to bypass the initial stairs in-town and gets people right to the lifts.

"Miners’ Residence

A villa located below the mine on the side of the hill where miners often go for their lunch breaks and after work. The mine diner is located there, along with a bar and a lounging space at a small terrace that overlooks the town. The residence is one of the main architecture landmarks the town has to offer, thanks to its historical design.

Natural Resources

The town is situated right on a considerable deposit of azurite, a mineral which has a variety of different applications in areas such as medicine, heavy industry and even cooking. It is the defining resource of Bleuwass and its main export, outside of the "Azurite Flow", which ultimately is just a form of refined azurite.

The most characteristic product from Bleuwass is a drink known as "Azurite Flow". It consists of a water-alcohol-azurite solution, which is then carbonated. The result is a refreshing azure-coloured drink that is best served cold on a hot day. Due to these qualities and price, it is popular among the middle-class of the Verfande Empire and beyond.
