Wolf of the North Session 5 Report

General Summary

While the heroes defeated the archers outside of the Elf-Eaters' Camp , the orcs within the camp had put the villagers from Frost's Edge back into their cages and went about their business. The heroes decided to try to take down the orcs within the camp bit by bit. Tup used her new spell, Dancing Lights, to lure some orcs into an ambush, which included a new face, that of Kamyra . After these orcs were dispatched, the heroes noticed a small bird wearing a plague doctor's mask, a psychopomp noroi named Norberto, who had lead Kamyra to join with his comrades as he, too, was one of the heroes that fell at the Battle of the Fallen Spear . The heroes tried their "trick and ambush" maneuvers a couple of more times, but on the second hut in the camp, things went awry as one of the orcs called out to his allies. Soon, the party was swarmed by a half dozen orcs, but fought valiantly. Brandilyn Hart noticed near the end of the battle that the Wolf of the North and her Wargs had been watching the fight for the last few seconds, but did not intervene. After dispatching the Orcs the Wolf of the North challenged the party to a one-on-one duel with a champion. If the Wolf won, the villagers were hers. If the Heroes won, they would gain ownership of the Elf-Eaters . Choosing Vor as their champion, healings were done and the two combatants squared off. The battle was a tough one for Vor, who ultimately failed. Very nearly killing Vor, she declared her victory. However, the treachery of the "heroes" knows no bounds and they attacked the Wolf after she had honorably beaten Vor. The Wolf's wargs leaped into the fray, swallowing Tup and attempting to swallow Chomp . In the end, the Wolf and her wargs lay defeated, as did Vor. The party burned Vor's body, claimed the Wolf of the North's Warclub and set about checking out the hut near the center of the camp. Inside they found an old orc healer, Gretir and her brother Hansir . They learned that Hansir was dying and Gretir fed the Elf-Eaters info as to the whereabouts of the party and the villagers in exchange for the healing the old orc promised her brother. Brandilyn stepped in and helped to save the boy's life. The heroes had finally defeated the Wolf of the North and found a safe spot for the villagers of the former Frost's Edge ..for a time at least.
