Us Among the Fungus Session 4 Report

General Summary

Having traveled deeper into the tunnels beneath Plaquit Mine , the heroes discovered the main part of the fungus leshy kingdom. After a quick discussion with a couple of leshy guards, the heroes moved into the portions of the tunnels where the Dero made their homes. The first sign that they had crossed the threshold into dero territory was a carving of Satanus the God of Wrath , the patron deity of the dero, over a tunnel. Beyond, the tunnel grew more narrow. After Tup was able to spot a trap that would have speared Grilsnick , the party exited a tunnel that had statues of dero heroes in it to find a circular chamber with three Giant Centipedes in it, two side tunnels and a door directly ahead. The centipedes were dispatched fairly easily, though Ranzak definitely felt the effects of the centipede poison. While everyone was healing up, Tup poked her head into the two door-less tunnels. One held cells and manacles and the other was blanketed in a thick fog of steam. About that time, the door opened up and two dero, surprised by the presence of the PCs, stood there, shocked. Quiet Branch in the Sun attempted diplomatic relations, but after the lack of a shared language made such attempts fruitless, Tup kicked things off by attempting to intimidate them.

A battle soon erupted and this proved to be quite a difficult fight. Quiet and Grilsnick nearly died and Ranzak was choked out by one of the dero stranglers. The PCs were (barely) triumphant, but triumph they did. The heroes then locked themselves in the room, which turned out to be a laboratory of some sort, to heal up and replenish spells. Investigating the room, they pieced together that the lab was for experiments performed by the dero to try to help them overcome their weakness to sunlight. Quiet enjoyed the single shaft of sunlight beaming down into the room.
