Convocation of Mysteries

The Convocation of Mysteries was the seat of the Council of Mystic Universities (Disbanded) and the most prestigious magical learning society in Marrikan. The building consisted of eight great towers, one dedicated to each school of magic (the Tower of Bones, of course, stood empty as necromancy was illegal). The towers were arranged in a circular arrangement with a beautiful shared courtyard between them containing various places for the students to meet, parks and various buildings used by the non-students that lived on the campus.   After the Battle of the Fallen Spear and subsequent conquest of the City of Bridges by the Iron Legion , the formal teaching of magic was declared illegal and the Convocation of Mysteries was destroyed, the ruins left to fester at the heart of the City of Bridges as a reminder to all of what happens when the Iron Lord considers you dangerous.   Today, the ruins of the towers are used by those with no place else to go, though living here is dangerous. Many former magical experiments have become corrupted over the centuries and threaten all who enter the area, occasionally spilling out into the City of Bridges itself. It is said the mysterious Court of Masks meets within these ruins to continue teaching their forbidden ways much as the Council of Mystic Universities (Disbanded) did in ages past.
