Roya (Magellan 7)

Roya, with its Earth-like environment, is the second most populous planet in the explored galaxy, home to over 12 billion Terrans, more than the rest of the Magellan (star system) system combined, and second only to Haphen (Palladia 4) in the colonized worlds. While vast swaths of the land are arid or irradiated due to a slightly thinner atmosphere than Earth’s, Terrans built on nearly all temperate and tropical lands available. This gives much of the planet the appearance of a singular massive, connected city.

People & Culture

Heavily industrialized but still visually appealing, Roya is one of the jewels of Terran civilization. Royan culture cannot be easily categorized, just as Earth’s cannot be. Roya is one of the most diverse and accepting of the planets, and Terrans of all splices, occupations, and socio-economic statuses make their homes here.   As a part of The Triptych, and a heavily-populated one, nearly everything one could seek one can find on Roya. For those looking to keep their activities under the radar, however, Roya is one of the toughest places to hide. Every corp worth noting has a base here and the populated areas of the planet are heavily policed. Many corps even use Roya as their training ground for new Peacekeeper recruits, so on and off-duty officers of all stripes and every corp imaginable can be found enjoying the recreation areas and views. Crime is generally low outside of a few of the corporate arcologies.

Geography

Roya is Earth-like, with 32% oceans and about 43% radiated, non-arable desert or glaciers. Most who wish for an aquatic lifestyle flock to Mayiy (Magellan 6), so the ocean is largely under utilized here. This leaves only a quarter or so of the planet’s surface as a truly habitable zone, save for scattered tribes out in the wastelands.

History

On the exploration of the Triptych, Multiple Jump Points were established nearly simultaneously between Palladia and Magellan as each corp sought to stake claim to the systems’ potential. To this day, transportation among Triptych worlds remains among the most affordable trips to make due to the sheer number of jump points. When ships first came to the Magellan system, Roya was the biggest draw for the largest number of people.   (This entry is incomplete)
