Vanquishers

Vanquishers are the highly elite special forces of the Merindian Empire, and possibly the strongest soldiers in the world. Vanquishers are used to carry out missions which would be far too deadly for normal soldiers such as killing especially powerful enemies, punching through enemy lines, or infiltrating enemy fortresses. To become a vanquisher, one has to exceed all other soldiers in fighting ability, and once you've been recognized for your strength, you can endure the trials needed to become a vanquisher. These trials are gruelling, brutal, and would easily kill a normal soldier. But if you can pass these trials and continue to excel in combat above all others, you will become a vanquisher. Only the strongest and most dedicated soldiers can even hope to become vanquishers, and all vanquishers exceed in strength, speed, and combat skills. Vanquishers are equipped with the strongest armour and the most powerful weaponry and are trained in combat by masters in order to ensure they use their arsenal to its full effect.
Individual vanquishers are all different. Some vanquishers may be masters of unarmed combat, melee weapons, various types of guns, or others. Each vanquisher is given special training to ensure they can truly master their preferred style of combat, and their armour and weaponry are suited for that too. Some vanquishers even know magic, and can combine their magic with their combat skills and weaponry and become devestating living weapons. Even without magic, the skill and strength of vanquishers can make them seem like near unstoppable superhuman warriors in the eyes of their enemies.
Becoming a vanquisher is seen as the ultimate proof of strenth in Merindian society, and vanquishers are seen as heroes for their undeniable might and bravery.

Weapons and Armour

Vanquishers are always equipped with a full suit of durnium plate. This suit of armour is designed to give the maximum possible protection while still allowing for great mobility. Vanquisher armour provides fire protection, can protect against exreme temperatures, and feature armoured gas masks to protect against poison gas and smoke. The armour of each individual vanquisher is custom designed to compliment their fighting style as much as possible. Some suits will be more armoured, some will be more mobile, some will be more heavily armoured in specific areas, and some might be modified to hold hidden weapons.
The weaponry of the vanquishers can be extremely varied, but always powerful. Most vanquishers use powerful machine guns or rifles, and they're almost always equipped with a knife, a backup pistol, and various grenades. The gauntlets of vanquishers are also made out of thick metal to let the vanquisher deliver lethal armoured punches if all else fails. There are also some vanquishers who excel in melee combat and use specialized swords, hammers, or axes to deliver death to their enemies. Some vanquishers also have more specialized weapons like flame throwers or lightning guns.

Tactics and Missions

As the most elite soldiers in the Merindian Empire, vanquishers are sent to complete missions which no normal soldier could complete. Vanquishers are used to serve as the unbreakable spearhead in attacks against enemy forces, and their mere presence of a vanquisher can turn the tide of a battle. Vanquishers are also used to kill especially deadly enemies which normal soldiers wouldn't stand a chance against. These can consist of extremely strong enemy soldiers, or powerful rogue magic users. The greatest of the vanquishers serve as Emperor Wulfrum's personal bodyguard. Being chosen to guard Emperor Wulfrum himself is possibly the greatest honour a Merindian soldier could ever achieve.

Perception

History

When Durnium was invented in 730, soldiers could be stronger by being equipped with stronger armour to protect important soldiers easier. Later on even stronger Durnium was invented but it was very expensive, but it could be very useful if given to very important people, so Emperor Wulfrum in the year 748 created the vanquishers in order to fully utilize the new armour by putting the best soldiers through extremely difficult trials and training, and if they passed they would wear the strengthened Durnium to help better protect the Merindian Empire's greatest soldiers.

They are equipped with a full set of strengthened durnium armour, which covered their whole bodies and could protect them from fire and cold, they have many different guns, bombs,melee weapons, armoured gas masks, communication equipment, vision enhancement goggles, supplies, parachutes, wingsuits, grappling hooks, and general combat tools
