Pithecus
The pithecus is a large omnivorous ape that lives in forests and walks in an upright position. Pithecus are related to yetis.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The pithecus has a human-like posture, standing upright. Although they differ from humans because they are far larger and more muscular, covered in fur and with a gorilla like face.
Ecology and Habitats
Pithecus live in northern forests, although they can't climb the trees because they are too large and have high branches, they walk on the ground.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Pithecus eat mostly insects, stems, fruits, mushrooms, berries, and fish. Pithecus aren't able to hunt other mammals effectively because they cannot run as fast, but they will eat injured animals or dead animals if given the chance.

Average Intelligence
Pithecus are believed to be the most intelligent members of the animal kingdom, they can easily recognize themselves in mirrors and are amazing at solving problems. Pithecus make the most use of tools out of any wild animal, they use large branches as weapons and they even shape rocks into primitive hand axes to carve meat off of bones and to dig plants out of the ground. There are many pithecus that are able to learn sign language and communicate with Humans using sign language.
Pithecus have been seen dividing themselves into clans, these seperate clans communicate with different grunts and they all have been seen painting their places of residence, usually caves and forests, with different colours, and even carving simple shapes into trees and cliffs, displaying a primitive form of culture.
Although pithecus intelligence is great, but they don't seem to be intelligent enough to use fire like humans do, and thus can't gain true sentience like Humans, although they are close.
Average Height
8.5 feet (2.5 meters)

Nice beginning for an apelike species. Maybe you could include more on their intelligence, like what they are capable of, or tools they use? Also, what do they eat?
yeah sure!
