Occulate Channeling

Occlate channeling is a form of magic that converts the fate/time-altering effects of events in history to produce magical effects. For example, if a user of Occlate magic is at the location of a major battle that turned the tide of war, they could tap into the residual temporal energy created by the shift in fate and possible realities to conjure up a magical effect. Items present or essential to certain pivotal moments in history can also store this residual energy to be drawn upon. If the item or location in question had a direct influence on the fate of the channeler, the magic they can conjure will be more effective. For example, if a channeler is carrying a wedding ring that has been in their family for generations and has been at the pivotal moments such as proposal acceptances each changing fate toward the moment the channeler was conceived, that channeler would get more utilization out of the item than any random channeler. Depending on the event in question, channeling from it will produce effects relating to the nature of the event. For example, a proposal ring might have the power to alter or control one's mind. The intensity of such effects is dependent not only on the channelers' relationship to the event in question but also on the quantity of fates changes by that single event. So a king's crown used over generations of coronations will produce greater effects than a proposal ring of a family in the country. Occlate channeling takes time and talent. Casting a single spell requires an incantation while focusing on the temporal energies. It's more effective and quicker to grasp onto the supply of temporal energy when the channeler is familiar with the pivotal events that created the supply.  Most Practicers of Occlste channeling are scholars that have studied historical events.

Discovery

After the calamity that began the Reamal age, a group of scholars discovered an enormous source of temporal energy from the fallen fortresses. The practice of Occulate channeling developed from this discovery.
