Patchworks

The most common ethnicity in Teytonol, Patchworks are made of flesh and blood, but able to be sewn and stitched much more like fabric - including using parts from other Patchwork people or creatures. They are tough and adaptable, but also highly modish, fickle and mercurial, regularly stitching, darning, and adding to themselves for practicality or fashion. They are only identifiable at all due to their telltale weft-and-warp skin texture, as well as (often) the stitch-marks on their flesh. there are many Patchwork creatures as well as people, commonly infusing the wildlife.   they tend to change appearance often in order to follow trends, limited by their skill (or the skill of their hired tailors) as well as available time. most people tend to be attractive by Reldan beauty ideals, but distinctive, innovative and striking looks are most prized, often setting off trends.   skilled patchwork tailors often find work as actors, spies, mimics etc.     Subtypes:
  • Cotton-tops, a subtype/subculture/fashion.
  • Merrows: water-adapted Patchworks, more common in wet seasons.
