The Hells

Devils claim to originate from a plane known as The Hells; a realm they claim was an orderly hierarchy of layers and leaders. But academic consensus suggests that this plane, if it ever existed, no longer does. Rituals to travel there are a matter of arcane record, but always fail, and no devil has been observed retreating to it. Whether it ever existed, or is simply some sort of ploy by Devils, is a matter of debate.
Devils, with their propensity for great evil, tend not to stick around to divulge the truth either way, and when found, are usually driven out of Amaranth, or killed. (Though some have been uncovered masquerading as Tieflings or Satyrs - a fact that both races tend to try and downplay.)
