Laguna

Half Merfolk/Half Human   Being two of Amaranth's most populous species, and ones most dedicated to farming (in, and on the shore of, the rivers that run throughout the city), it was only natural that quite a population of hybrids would pop up. Now almost as numerous as Half-elves; Laguna inherit some of the same malleability of form as the Merfolk, but more readily take to the semi-aquatic lifestyle that's well suited to tending the river-gardens of Amaranth.

OOC Stats

[In 4e Builder, pick Human] +2 Any Languages: Common, Merfolk Bonus Skill & Bonus Feat (as per human) You qualify for Human and Merfolk feats   [Subtract 1 from all your defenses (i.e. you do not get the human defense bonuses)] [Do not select a Bonus at-will power]   Aquatic Aspect: Choose an aquatic species your natural form emulates. You do not gain any additional bonuses for doing so at this current time, but may do so as part of feats or paragon paths.   Natural Shapeshifter: At the cost of a healing surge, you can shift between terrestrial and aquatic forms as a standard action.   While in terrestrial form you can breathe air. Gain +2 swim speed, but -2 land speed.   Adaptive Defenses: gain the Adaptive Defenses Laguna racial power.

Laguna specific feats:

Heroic Tier: Manifest Aspect - Expend a healing surge to gain the benefits of your Aquatic Aspect as if you were a Merfolk, until the end of your next short rest. You may sustain the effects of this change until the next short rest, by expending an encounter power at the end of any short rest. Paragon Tier: Hardening Cartilage - When using your Adaptive Defenses racial power, you may choose AC instead of Reflex or Fortitude for either the primary or secondary effect.

Laguna specific paragon paths:

Dedicated Amphibian (Arcane or Primal. Control battlefield by summoning water. Reduced costs of swapping forms) (also available to Merfolk)
