Surgery

As time progresses, magic has become less and less used during everyday life but despite this, magic is still relied on heavily to cure illnesses. This reliance on magic to heal has created a stigma on people with little to no magic as the magic is unable to properly work on a person.    To reduce this stigma, people have started to turn to science and find ways to heal all without the worry of magic complications. The newest discovery in science is how to safely conduct surgery to remove objects that are embedded in someone.    This practice is still widely unknown and has a lot of hatred as it has the potential to take power from magic healers.    The success rate of surgery is still low but is improving as people become more aware of how to clean an injury. Many people once turned away by magical healers, will turn to surgery if they know they will die because at least they have a chance of surviving unlike if they continued to beg at the steps of Solinlicht Cathedral although they knew they will always be turned down. In the beginning, simple alcohol was used to disinfect, but over time, the alcohol is being further distilled and is showing greater survival success.    Surgery is feared by the kingdom of Japrines as it fears anything that is unknown. They have placed a ban on any medical practices that do not involve magic. Anywho are found to be practicing or seeking the aid of those people will be executed without trial. Many are started to flee to Pacellum and Afrad in order to continue their practice, but as Japrines' beliefs spread, surgery becomes more hidden and underground.    With fewer regulations underground, people are starting to practice amputations but with the lack of honesty the success is worsening and more lives are at risk, but regardless, people still turned to these methods when the Cathedrals constantly turn them away because they weren't fortunate enough to be born with magic.
