Sanguit Refinery

The Sanguit Refinery is the only business in the Sanguit settlement which refines Sanguit Stones. (I know, not very creative names but look at our world. We have deserts named desert desert so shush) The Sanguit Refinery is the business that employs all employees living in Sanguit Settlement.    The purpose of this business is simple, to refine and sell Sanguit Stones, that's it. They were founded by the von Trauss family in the early 6th century, but the records of that time are spotty at best so no one is really sure which monarch set up and funded the business, but because of the old symbols and seals mimicked the old royal family's everyone knows they directly linked to the monarchs.    While the purpose is simple, the politics are not. Because Sanguit Refinery is the largest company and refines the most sought-after minerals, they have a lot of power and a lot of people who will like control over them. This company was the first one to allow a citizen to rise to royal status, but due to laws that were later instated to ensure no nobles (who are the only ones who can even afford to buy these stones) can own the company.   This law was created so no noble could gain control of the company and hold a monopoly over the others. While this is a law, many try to work around it to have some power over the price of the stones and also the information of when a precious stone is found which makes the business full of shady and backdoor business.    All stones must be presented to the monarch or someone appointed by the monarch before they can be sold. Usually, the business sends a list of all stones every week to inquire if the monarch would like any. If it's a rare stone, it must be presented to the monarch. Despite the backdoor business, the Refinery has a great and loyal relationship with the royal family. The business gives part of its profits to the monarch. The settlement falls under no noble's territory so they are taxed directly by the royal family.
