Bird Cleaners

In the city of Glatkori birds are worshipped and treated with complete respect due to how closely they are linked to The Feathered Rite and the Pegasus god. There are multiple places for birds to rest in the city and many, many places for them to eat. People treat birds as daily omens. It is common practice that the first bird you see during the day tells you how the rest of it will be. Others believe the last bird you see during the day will tell them how tomorrow will be. 
Because of the constant worshipping and caring for birds, the city is littered with waste and litter from the birds. This is where the Bird Cleaners are needed. They are in charge of cleaning roofs, streets, and all public areas of animal waste. They are unvalued since they are cleaning up things that people see are disgusting, but because of the bird cleaners, Glatkori has become one of the cleanest and healthiest cities in the known world. 
Because there are always birds around, there are always people cleaning the city and ensuring nothing gets too dirty. In the last pandemic, in 1111 NS, Glatkori had a few cases but were otherwise untouched where the rest of the kingdom of Pacellum and Insar were crushed. 
Today, the cleaners are even more underappreciated because the current Duke is lowering funding which means there are fewer workers and those who are working are underpaid. What the Duke of the city present, the people soon follow. So as the Duke ridicules and mocks those who do this work, so do the people. Despite this mockery, this profession is one of the most important for ensuring the city remains clean and healthy. If they were to stop working, it would take less than a year for the city to collapse into disease.
